First day..

Thanks again to Ashley at Be Bright and Jovial for the award! That was such a sweet surprise today! :)

I don't know about where you are, but here it has been raining ALL day. The dreary, nasty, makes-you-want-to-stay-in-bed-all-day, kind of rain! If I didn't have to work today I would have stayed in bed all day, but since I did work today I have a feeling an early bed time may be in my near future!

It's already been a long week and it's only Wednesday! Sunday night I went to the Jason Aldean concert at the wharf with one of my best friends, Whitney. I posted a little about the concert before. My sweet sweet husband bought us tickets as a surprise back in July, but the original show got rained out. (BOO!) So it was rescheduled for Sunday. It was an AMAZING concert! Aldean puts on one heck of a show, for any of you country girls like me out there, if you ever get the chance to see him live, GO! He's well worth every penny. It was a late show though, the opening acts didn't start til 8, and Jason didn't end up going on until a little before 10. The concert ended around 11:30 and we still had an hour drive home and traffic to deal with, so it was about 1 a.m. before I crawled into bed(this is late for me now, sad I know!)

Me and Whitney at the concert

Jason Aldean!(we were pretty close)

Monday I caught up on some errands and housework and got in a good but long overdue work out at the gym.

Tuesday was the big day! I subbed for the first time! My Mother-in-law has been subbing at the high school for several years now so she's pretty well known by all the teachers and gets called on a regular basis. Now that she's also a flight attendant she can't work as many of the sub jobs as she used to. This is convenient for me because I can take a lot of the jobs that she can't instead of waiting to find an open job online. Monday she called me and asked if I would be interested in taking a 9th grade class for Tuesday. Boy was I! Initially I was really going to concentrate on subbing for elementary schools, but I was open to anything to get started.

I was a little nervous. I didn't go to this high school so I wasn't real familiar with the school lay out or the policies of the school and teachers. I was also nervous about subbing for freshmen all day, because let's face it. They're not always the most well behaved! I didn't know how well they would listen to me, since I'm not all that much older than them.(Except I realized that I'm actually 8 or 9 years older than them.. YIKES! Didn't realize how old I'm getting!) But to my pleasant surprise, they were all really good and very respectful. I didn't have any problems! I can't wait to sub again, and I'm still looking forward to working with different ages so I can see what I like best.

I was also a little afraid that I would just blend in with the students and teachers would stop me for a hall pass. But only one administrator at the very end of the day stopped to ask how my day went, and told me that I blended in with the students and it took him a minute to realize I was a sub.
My "teacher" outfit

I don't think I mentioned it before, but this is the high school that my husband went to. He graduated in 2005. #oldman
At the end of the day when I was signing out and turning my stuff in to the office, I found this little beauty on the wall of the main hall way:

Oh yes, you guessed it! That's the Hub's senior picture! Gotta love living in a small town! ;)

Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the week! Happy Wednesday y'all!

Am I the only one????

Am I the only one who feels like they have no direction in their life? Probably.

I like to think that a lot of recent college grads and newlyweds have no idea where they are going in life, but maybe this isn't the case.

I graduated college with a public relations degree in April of this year. I haven't found a job in my field. (I also haven't been looking too hard, if the truth be told.) I don't really want to work in PR anymore.

I know, I know, a little late to decide that now!

I'm trying out subbing this semester and I'm going to spend some time in classrooms and hope that I enjoy that field better and then start working to get my own classroom.

I envy those people that were just born knowing what they want to do. I envy people who got jobs that they just love. If you're one of those people, I hate you! Not really!! I'm just very jealous, because I've never had that feeling.

Growing up I was one of those kids that changed "what I wanted to be when I grew up" about every other week. I never just knew what I wanted to be. The only thing that was consistent was that I wanted to be a wife and mom one day.

Well, one down! I love being a wife, and would be a house wife if that was a possibility. (Here's hoping that one day Stephen has a really good job, and I can just stay home and have babies!)

Until then, I'm on the hunt for a job to love. I'm hoping that teaching is it for me. I love kids(truthfully, I enjoy being around kids more than adults!), the schedule is awesome, and it's never the same boring thing everyday.

Anyway...

Enough of my personal freak out/quarter-life crisis complaints of the day.

Here's something cool I discovered today!

Some of you may have already done it, but for those of you who haven't. Get ahead of the Facebook changes! I know everyone is complaining about all the new stuff.(I personally am not a fan either, why mess with a good thing?) But they are setting it up for something really awesome, and if you're inpatient like me, you can get it now by following the instructions on this website.

I just did mine, and it's crazy! It's called Facebook timeline and it organizes your page in chronological order from the time you joined Facebook until now. CAUTION: you may come across embarassing college party pictures or old statuses that will make you laugh! They are eventually going to do this to everyone's page, but until then you can only see timelines of other people who have changed their page and only people who have made the change can see your page as a timeline.

Enjoy!

 Happy Monday y'all!

2 on Tuesday(only 10 minutes late!)

I know, I know it's technically not Tuesday anymore, but I had to work til close tonight so I was late getting home. Cut me some slack, GEEZ! :) I'm so glad to have found this link up because I was really missing Top 2 Tuesdays and this is along those lines. Check out Andrea's super cute blog over at My Chihuahua Bites! I love the link up, but I'm also loving her blog, so I'm glad I discovered it!

2 on Tuesday

This week there are 2 questions.

1.) What are 2 of your favorite cleaning products?

I have so many it's hard to choose, but I have to say that the one I use the most are these little beauties I discovered at the commissary a couple of months ago:
And my all time favorite stand by:

Classic bleach. I love the smell. Yes, I know I'm weird, but to me bleach just smells clean.

And question number 2 this week:

2.) What new fall seasons of TV shows are you most looking forward to?

It's hard to pick just two, but I'll have to say my first is:
This is mine and the Hub's favorite and we were so excited to watch the season premiere last night! I'm so excited that Marshall and Lily are pregnant and can't wait to see their baby! :)

2.) My other favorite started tonight and I can't wait to catch up with it on DVR tomorrow:

Beyond excited for fall!!!!!!!

Wasn't that fun? Head on over and link up with My Chihuahua Bites! Happy Tuesday er.. Wednesday(??) y'all!

Monday... again???

Ok, ok, ok I know I've been absent again. I apologize profusely, but you should really thank me because we've been pretty boring lately, so I don't have much to share. Seriously. We've both been working a lot, I've gotten back to the gym, we're working on a couple little projects around the house here and there, we're LOVING football season(even though we suffered a heartbreaking loss this weekend!) we never tire of watching our Noles!, and we squeeze in family and friend fun time whenever we can!

Since I really have nothing of any real value to share today, and I'm extremely sleepy (I promise I will try to be better!) I'll just leave you with some pictures for tonight!

I'm going to try out some of my pinterest recipes this week and will share some pictures and reviews of the good ones! In the mean time, you can see what I like on my boards here. Until next time, here are some pictures of our first football game of the year and our wedding pictures we just got back from the photographer! :) Happy Monday y'all!

Me and my wittle seestor! We're not twins, but sometimes we like to pretend for the day! #mysistercopiesme

HELP!

Ok this is probably just something simple that I'm overlooking, but all you professional bloggers out there I'm stuck and I could use your expertise!

For some reason when I go to comment whether on my own blog or someone else's instead of just having my profile there and the comment box, underneath the box is a drop down menu that says select profile and gives me options like LiveJournal, Google Account, Open ID,... none of them are just my blog profile, and none of them work. I have tried signing out and signing back in, I've tried using all the profile options it gives, but nothing works. How do I get it to just let me comment as my blog? I would like to be able to comment again!

Monday again?

Is it really already Monday? Where have the last couple weeks gone?! I swear I feel like it was just  September 1st and now here we are half way through September! Basically I'm trying to make excuses for my inexcusably bad blogging habits, but there really aren't any. I'm back to just having one job(until I start subbing in the next few weeks) and I have a LOT  more free time. Last week my husband was gone on his first TDY so I had a lot of time on my hands. Did I do anything productive? Not so much.

I did squeeze in some fun though. I had lunch with friends, hung out with my mom, picked up a couple extra shifts at work, watched the first Saints game of the season!(More on that in a minute), went to the beach, got back in the gym, went to the Gulfarium with my family, and just enjoyed some "me" time.

As I mentioned, this was our first TDY since being married, well actually, ever. It did not go well. There was a lot of fighting between the two of us over those 5 days, and I think we just both had very different expectations of what it would be like. I will spare you all the gory details, but for my other MIL spouses out there, did you ever have this problem? What do you do to help make seperations easier on you. I was just surprised because last year he was gone practically the whole year between basic and tech school and our relationship actually got stronger through all that. That's why I wasn't really worried about a measley 5 day seperation, but it was much different this time. He has a deployment next spring so we have to figure out how to handle these things before then so any advice you may offer is welcome!

Back to the fun stuff, I mentioned that I watched the first NFL game of the season. We're mostly college football crazed down here, but my family and I are big Saints fans, always have been. This year they played the first regular season game on Thursday night against the Packers. Well some of our close friends are crazy Packers fans. They had a football party to watch the game and were nice enough to invite my mom and I and even let us wear our Saints gear. It was a lot of fun even though we lost! Lots of food, lots of chatting, a little beer, and plenty of football! I even got to try out one of my new pinterest recipes, which I will share with you because it was super easy and very delicious!

It was kinda pot luck snackage for the night so I brought one of my stand by favorites, pizza dip(which I will share the super easy recipe with you), and tried out my new dessert favorite, the peanut butter ball.

The Pizza Dip(always a big hit!)

Start with an oven safe dish and cream cheese(amount varies depending on how much you want to make)For this occasion I used 16oz

Combine Italian Seasoning and cream cheese in oven safe dish and spread evenly along the bottom of the pan.
Add a jar of pizza sauce or spaghetti sauce on top of the cream cheese and add more Italian Seasoning to your taste.
Add a bag of shredded mozzerella cheese and more Italian Seasoning to taste.

Place dish in oven at 325 until melted and warm. Serve with chips, crackers, anything you can think of and enjoy!
**(Again portions can very depending on how much you need to make)

Here are the pictures from my Peanut Butter ball experiment. You can find the full recipe at this awesome cooking blog. It was a big hit too and super easy to make!

It's football season, so hope you guys enjoy these easy football party recipes too! Happy cooking and happy Monday y'all!

SHAKING MY HEAD!

Well, I had intended to do an update this morning since I hadn't posted in a while and tell you all about my wonderful holiday weekend, and my husband's TDY this week, etc., etc. But then I get on Facebook this morning to quite a disturbing post from one of my favorite Air Force wife support pages.

Apparently there is a Facebook page started by army wives and then expanded where military wives/girlfriends/fiances/troop supporters in general, could submit pictures of their boobs to be added to a gallery for "troop support." In their minds it was for "deployed troop morale." You can see these lovely pages here and here.

Pardon my language here, but WHAT THE HELL?!? Really!?

My first question is these "wives" that created this page, where are their husbands? How do their husbands feel about their wives "flashing" the entire world on the internet? Do they not think about their husbands' military career?

We military spouses battle enough stereotypes without proving people's points! You mil spouses know what I'm talking about. People think that infidelity runs rampant in military families. The military, regardless of branch, is founded on honor and integrity. These page are the OPPOSITE of that!

I liked one of the pages to leave a comment and point out these things. I also reported both pages to Facebook in the hopes that if enough of us report them they will get shut down. So this morning instead of a life update, I'm asking all of you lovely blog friends to take a minute to follow each of the links and report these disgusting groups to Facebook.

It's OK...

I discovered a new blog that I'm loving over at A Complete Waste of Makeup, and this link-up she's hosting is just too much fun not to participate in! So here we go with a shot at....

  • that I'm the worst blogger ever and haven't posted since last week!(Sometimes, even when I'm busy, I'm just not that interesting! ;))
  • that while watching the VMA's I only further developed my distaste for pop music!
  • that I'm only 22 but some days I feel more like 35!
  • that my career/school plan changes frequently even though I finished my bachelor's degree in May
  • that I took off work a couple weeks ago to go to the first FLORIDA STATE game of the season!!!

  • that I've been driving my husband crazy all week counting down to the little road trip for the game
  •  that I'm working 28 hours in a 48 hour period. (only because I'm off all weekend!)
  •  that I can't remember everyone I've made a reservation for or helped find a property at work
  • that I'm ready for fall TV shows to come back on! (Why hello Gossip Girl, I have missed you!)
  • that I'm not nearly as excited for my husband's first TDY as he is!
  • that I didn't wear sunscreen when I spent 4 hours on the beach Monday with my sweet Mother-in-law and now I'm just a little bit peely.. oops!
  • that I'm more than a little excited to try Zumba for the first time next week while the hubs is out of town!
  •  that I'm beyond addicted to pinterest and keep finding new projects to try! (If you're on Pinterest too, follow me and I'll follow back!) I'm always looking for new boards to keep up with!
  • THAT I JUST CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS DAY TO END!!
Happy Thursday y'all and hope everyone has a wonderful Labor Day weekend! Get out and enjoy it.. fall will be here before we know it!
